Does Monday feel overwhelming? I’m with you. Here’s what I’m doing to make it better!

A truth battle will help you conquer the Monday dismay- or at least mitigate the damage. Before I do anything, I feel so much better when I sort through the frustrations my heart is feeling on Monday morning!

First, what is it that I’m most anxious about right now, and why am I upset?
For me, it feels like the entire house is dirty and in need of renovation. There might be some truth to this, but reality is not as bad as it feels on a Monday morning. Right now I feel impossibly behind, and frustrated that I don’t feel energetic enough to tackle it all.

Second, is this a reasonable feeling?
Should I try to clean the entire house on Monday morning? Anyone might feel frustrated by this size of a task! But really, I’m overstating the problem while underestimating my energy and it ends up feeling like I’ll never be able to accomplish having a clean house. But the feelings of my imagination isn’t matched with REALITY.

Third, what is true about this situation?
In reality, if I can clean just one room I’ll feel better about the state of my house.

In reality, I haven’t eaten enough today yet to feel energetic.

In reality, by the end 0f the day my house could be mostly clean if I actually decided to put my effort toward it.

This is all GREAT NEWS!!

I don’t have to listen to those initial feelings on Monday morning. Those negative feelings are paralyzing to me. They make me want to give up before I start.

So instead of being overwhelmed, I can eat more food to feel energy again. I can make my bed and pick up my room in less than 5 minutes! And if I want to, I can go to the next room, set a timer for 3 minutes and race to see what I can accomplish! Then when I want to take a break, I can use the computer and plan out my kitchen remodel for fun. It’s not so bad after all, right?

It’s a new day, and my deceptive feelings don’t have to be the boss. With the strength God provides through food and His help to see the truth, I’m going to conquer Monday! 🙂
